Auditions for South Bank’s autumn production of ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams

Auditions for South Bank’s autumn production of ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams directed by Johnny McGurgan will take place on:

Tuesday 3rd September and Thursday 5th September at 7.30pm in South Bank.

The cast consists of two female characters (mother & daughter) and two younger male characters.

As usual, the auditions will be informal and no particular preparation is expected.  However, a ‘deep south’  American accent is required.

A note about the play:

Abandoned by her husband, Amanda Wingfield comforts herself with recollections of her earlier, more gracious life in Blue Mountain when she was pursued by ‘gentleman callers.’ Her son Tom, a poet with a job in a warehouse, longs for adventure and escape from his mother’s suffocating embrace, while Laura, her shy, disabled daughter, has her glass menagerie and her memories. Amanda is desperate to find her daughter a husband, but when the long-awaited gentleman caller does arrive, will Laura’s romantic illusions be crushed?
