Laying the Foundations: training day for youth theatre practitioners

Following on from the success of our Laying the Foundations training weekend in Monaghan last September, TheatreNI with Youth Theatre Ireland are delighted to be hosting this excellent training opportunity in Belfast in March.

The training will introduce participants to the facilitation methodologies included in Laying The Foundations, a practical youth drama manual that guides facilitators through a ten-week drama workshop programme for youth theatres. The training will include practical drama workshops, planning exercises, discussion and feedback sessions. The process will help participants to interrogate the programme from the facilitator’s perspective and gain an insight into how to best use the publication. All participants will receive a free copy of Laying the Foundations.

The day will also include formal and informal opportunities to network with other practitioners and explore opportunities for developing partnerships for the benefit of youth theatre members.

Over the day participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Source new material and approaches to elements of drama facilitation and explore fresh ways to build basic drama skills with new youth theatre members
  • Share best practice approaches from youth theatres.
  • Explore opportunities for creating future collaborations and partnerships
  • Identify funding opportunities for future cross-border partnerships
