The course is delivered by experienced, professional actors, tutors and directors and in collaboration with local film schools, casting directors and the Irish film industry. We aim to give you a rigorous foundation to pursue careers in film and TV or continue professional training. We provide a number of bursaries and scholarships for the course and have a track record for delivering world class professional vocation training.

This unique course is located in the vibrant heart of Belfast in Northern Ireland, which is the ‘go to’ location for big budget films and TV including: Game of Thrones at the Titanic Studios, Star Wars, Line of Duty and Kenneth Brannagh’s new Disney film and The Derry Girls.
This intensive full time course focuses on acting for TV, film and related career paths. The course is delivered over 20 weeks and delivers core classes in voice, movement, acting, improvisation, screen technique, professional preparation and text work as well as two practical film projects and audition technique.
Employability and Industry
You will receive guidance in C.V. writing, professional headshots and show reels, self-taping and practice mock auditions with casting directors. There will also be workshop Q &A’s with local film and TV professionals, actors and directors so you understand about the industry as well as a toolkit to manage your well-being and build resilience and discipline. We will arrange visits to film sets and you will have the opportunity to work in a professional studio with film students on a project.
We focus on a range of acting methodologies including; Stanislavsky and Meisner in weekly taught classes. Classes will develop imagination and focus and help create believable characters and performances. You will work on a range of contemporary, classical and TV/Film scripts and learn how to work on a script to bring it to life.
Understanding physical blocks and habits is a key component of movement classes. You will explore physical anatomy, body tension and relaxation, alignment, physical rhythm and tempo as well as improve fitness, flexibility and stamina. Each day you will have a 30 minute taught Limber (warm up) which may include yoga, Pilates and relaxation.
Play is fundamental to all acting. Learning how to act in imaginary circumstances with confidence and ease in particularly vital for screen. We use games and exercises to build confidence and ensemble.
These classes and workshops will help you prepare for the world of working as a professional in TV/film. Classes will explore your voice as an instrument. You will also learn about articulation and breath as well as exploring accent /dialects. We will also explore voice acting for radio and TV and film.
You will learn about the roles associated with the film and TV industry and have the chance to crew, write and create your own scripts. The class will explore the difference between live and recorded performance and will include; motion capture, green screen, acting for screen techniques for different genres (soap, documentary, plays), hitting marks and shot size.
This course will give you the opportunity of learning through the experience of being on camera starting with a ‘talking heads’ monologue to camera. You will work on your own short film in term one which you will write, storyboard and crew. In term two we will work on two hander scenes which will be filmed and form part of your show reel. There will be an opportunity to showcase your work to agents and casting directors.
We put equal emphasis on pastoral and personal development as in the delivery of skills. Rose Bruford is signed up to The Mental Health Charter for The Performing Arts and we have trained Mental Health First Aiders and counsellors to support our students through their time studying with us. Each student will keep a reflective journal and have regular one to one meetings with their assigned personal tutor.

You will also be required to pay a £25 audition fee for this course.
Early bird discount
A £500 discount is available for early payment of full fees.
2 half bursaries of £3,000 each will be awarded to students on the course, subject to conditions. More details about the bursary application process will be sent upon application to the course.
