The Playhouse, Derry-Londonderry is seeking Screenwriters to work on a number of upcoming short educational films that explore justice issues, which will be made with and for young people.
The Playhouse produces emotionally powerful short films (approx. 6 – 15 minutes), and previous themes have included para-militarism, one punch can kill, dangerous driving and cyber-crime. Their short-films are used as an educational resource by artist facilitators, teachers, youth workers, police officers, and youth justice agency officers to explore issues around criminality and justice issues with young people. They will be making at least one short film to be completed by March 2020, and one by March 2021. Both will be approx. 10 mins in length.
The budgets for our films are approx. £16 – £20k including screenwriter’s fee, actor’s fees, locations, props, filming and production costs.
They are seeking Screenwriters who have proven ability to write hard-hitting, meaningful films which dramatize the reality of social / political issues. If you are interested in writing screenplays for The Playhouse’s short educational film programme, please submit:
